rounding off what has been a busy year for idle hands comes a 12 inch from west country residents outboxx. this duo, comprised of jacob martin (aka hodge) and matthew lambert have steadily built a reputation for themselves with releases on well rounded and immerse. moving away from the dominant trends in bass music the pair have been forging a sound more akin to early nineties deep house - yet retaining a palette of 2011 sounds. here they present two tracks - >aporia< is a lesson in wistful house, all pianos and a sneeky bass drop half way through the tune. >cromwell< is a straight ahead house roller, but with enough sub to keep the bass enthusiasts happy. support so far from ramadanman and sven weiseman.

glasgows taz buckfaster - or just taz - was one of rwinas earliest discoveries.his two eps on rwina have leaned towards the dubstep side of things,imbuing them with the playful hip-hop inspired mischief that remains the rwina trademark, playing with dub skank on kingston bridge and sending off firecrackers of concentrated synth melody in nearly uncontrollable bursts on 20 red. he now makes a welcome return to the label at the end of 2011 with the neurotica ep with four brand new tracks of uncompromising glaswegian heat.

santiago salazar (dj s2) from underground resistance, los hermanos, galaxy 2 galaxy and ican productions fame found a new home for his finest slide tracks. the ur projects ingredients are a pure analogue electro-techno-funk hybrid with slip and sliding samples and topped off with tweaked 303s for good measure. frustrated funk now releases 4 of s2s best slide tracks from the period 2007-2010. so, put your skates on, get on the floor and get ready to slide and bounce to this absolutely amazing ep. we cant get enough of this!

a straight upfront pounding original from dutch producer mr jones is joined here on the remix by current drumcode favourite ben sims for a groovier, more funk filled workout. dublin based producer sunil sharpe rounds off the package with a seriously twisted heads down broken beat approach.
armory has been hammered all over by dave clarke for most of 2011 & mr jones is studio partner dave under the guise of unsubscribe. together they have already completed remixes for black asteroid & detrot grand pubahs with more to follow in 2012.

kowton and tom dicicco, residing in bristol and manchester respectively, make very different music from one another. kowtons seems to come from house, perhaps also electro and garage, often quite slow in tempo and hard to pin down to a specific genre. toms music is techno, bass heavy, melodic, textured and rooted around 125 bpm. with these distinctive styles the idea of a split ep might seem ambitious, but the result is four cohesive but different tracks that show the talents of both artists perfectly in the format of two originals on one side and two remixes of each others originals on the other. tom diciccos original is driven by a low-mid range thick stab and pounding kick drum, littered with intricate but not overbearing hi hat and snare work and some very atmospheric mid range. kowtons is subtle and sparse, low fidelity and plodding, with rattling percusion carrying the tune along. on the other side of the record, kowtons remix of toms original is driven by an enormous bassline, with an off kilter dubby feel to the slow tempo and genre defying tune. toms remix of kowton rounds off the ep with a return to stab driven techno, pulsating, dynamic and trance inducing.

two of the most prolific names in the scene have come together for 1traxs latest release. kicking off his career as a promoter/dj of birminghams legendary below parties which have seen just about every dj worth their salt play, ashique subb-an subhan has developed into one of the most bankable producer/djs around. the sound design graduate has already graced tsuba, leftroom, hot creations, 20:20 vision, mothership and his own one records imprint while forthcoming material for culprit, spectral and crosstown rebels is set to further an already cast-iron reputation. hailed as easily the hottest emerging talent in dance music by mixmag, nominated as best breakthrough producer by dj mag and with the likes of anja schneider, jamie jones and damon alburn queing up behind to offer their praise, there is something rather special about maya jane coles. >get away< was a previous successful 1trax release, and subb-ans own take on mayas laid-back funk truly does it justice.

label boss nicco is back on recline music with this 12 inch after one year from the big success of disco bitch included by marco carola in his essential mix for the bbc.
>in your heart< is an elegant house music tune with obsessive rithmic voice that run around all track, strong bassline and groovy percussion for this outstanding tune full of power and energy. the record included also a someone else remix (future audio - get physical music - ministry of sound - time has changed - resopal ), one from ronan portela (bla bla - be real - monique music - area remote ) and one from aldo cadiz ( desolat - off - viva music - safari electronique ). all the mixes are real house music masterpieces , lil number with remixes to suit all tastes.

uncanny the label that took everyone by surprise comes with more goodness! the third artist-ep by dresden-based label comes from house- and hip hop-mastermind cuthead and is nothing less than a proper power package. with vibratin things start off as deep as the bottom of the sea. underneath cutheads dense drums there is an intense and meditating synth line which is eventually complimented by an acid figure as if it was an evil twin. brother rolls in with a mighty kick drum, before a catchy sample and not less catchy piano motives prepare for a propitiating end. with transgressions and its bass line for the bigger floors things get down to house business once again. the remaining two tracks then give an impression of what happens, if cuthead takes to the mpc for his liveset. in seram lembah und heartless cuthead combines his drumming with south east asian disco-mantras und bittersweet blues chants to heavy hip-hop-grooves. loving it!

the new phoenix g (pg039) is an excellent deep and hypnotizing release. relying heavily on one shot chords and thumping vintage drum machines this is one for the bag. the a1 concequences is a real deep one with nice open hats and good places chords. a real open mix for the late / early hours. the b1 is a real vintage percussive slammer with nice one shots that together create a real oldschool vibe. the latin vocal in this track gives it a somewhat different vibe,really good for the dancefloor.the b2 is a dark peak time anthem. this will go off at any quality house evening. what a strange but wonderful vibe those rhodes in the middle are giving.true analog deephouse by mr.g

starting with kollektiv turmstrasse! what kicks off as a chez damier groove makes the transition into a loose dub monster. collecting traces of the original sound and dispersing them with magic movements we see why kollektiv turmstrasse are a top act. shifting the attention from the front to the far back from the obvious to the abstract... turmstrasse create that parallel groove on top of the groove which seems to tighten up with every minute. fine particles of sounds are sprayed onto the relentless groove and make it a real crowd pleaser.

man make musics second release is a collaboration between two talented londoners, jack dixon and rick grant. having already made waves with individual releases on labels such as brownswood, hypercolour and take, these two good friends now offer up a pair of brilliantly off-kilter house tracks. >running man< is a heady mix of skipping percussion and caressing juno synth-lines, whilst, on the flip, >muted< takes a more understated, melancholic turn, counterbalancing the ecstatic nature of the a-side. jack and ricks contributions are also offset by kevin mcphees weird and wonderful slow-mo interpretation of >running man<. the remix blends vocals drenched in reverb with creeping piano riffs and shows yet another musical side of a man garnering plaudits from all corners for his unique style.
